EPA Antibiotic Laboratory Support
The EPA Environmental Research and Business Support Program is searching for an EPA Antibiotic Laboratory Support at the EPA facility in Cincinnati, OH. The selected candidate will provide technical laboratory support for a research project focusing on antibiotic resistant microbes (ARM) in wastewater systems, including identifying various antibiotic resistance genes and elucidating the mechanisms involved in acquiring antibiotic resistance in bacteria. The job is expected to begin November 2016.
• Full time, $20.80/hour
• Must have earned a Bachelor’s degree in biology, microbiology, or closely related field
• Must have experience in culture techniques, microbiological research, DNA/RNA extractions, PCR, RT-PCR, gel electrophoresis, and techniques for assessing water quality parameters
• Will perform tasks such as preparing materials, processing samples, analyzing ARM concentrations and antibiotic resistance, and performing nucleic acid extraction
