Job Description
Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah, invites applications for a Global Change Biologist, who would bring their expertise and fresh ideas to a thriving program. We welcome applications from biologists who are seeking to answer questions about global change focused on any level from molecular to biome. The successful candidate will begin Fall semester 2017. Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in this area, successful teaching at the post-secondary level, and a research program tailored to an undergraduate environment.
Our ideal new colleague will be committed to innovative teaching and learning in a student-centered environment. Teaching requirements include “Principles of Ecology,” a lower division core course for Biology majors, and participation in the team-taught course, “Introduction to Environmental Studies.” The successful candidate will complement current faculty expertise and be encouraged to develop curriculum for Westminster’s new liberal education core (WCore) and an upper division course in their specialty area. The teaching load is 24 credit hours per year.
The Biology Program has a strong commitment to student learning with innovative facilities, strength in interdisciplinary work, a rich history of undergraduate research, and high impact teaching practices. Our students graduate with critical thinking skills and experiences that support their next career steps in the workforce or in applying to medical or graduate school. We have a wide array of instrumentation and start-up funds will be available to the successful candidate.

Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Global Change Biology or related field (completed by August 2017)
Successful teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience or preparation to successfully conduct research in an undergraduate research environment
A background in quantitative and modeling skills
