Assistant Professor - Pitt Johnstown

 NON-TENURE STREAM POSITION CHEMISTRY

 

The Chemistry Department at the University of Pittsburgh Johnstown invites applications for a three-year, full-time position in Chemistry at the level of Assistant Professor. Responsibilities:

Teaching responsibilities include Preparation for Chemistry, General Chemistry lecture and lab, laboratory courses for health professions and for engineers and upper level courses in his/her area of expertise. The ability to develop a general education course for non-science majors is desirable. The successful candidate will also prepare laboratories for execution, supervise student workers, participate in the development of new laboratory experiments for the above-mentioned courses, maintain currency in area of expertise or Chemical Education through appropriate professional development and participate in service to the Department and the University. 

 

Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Chemistry, preference will be given to those a physical chemistry background; demonstrated commitment to teaching at the undergraduate level through experience; excellence in oral and written communication skills and evidence of experience teaching General Chemistry. Ability to teach General Chemistry and labs should be documented by at least one of the following: letter of reference, peer review of teaching, student evaluations or teaching awards.

Starting Date:  August 2018
