Multiple Tenure-Track Faculty Positions – University of Akron

 

The College of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering (CPSPE) at The University of Akron invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions with start dates of August 2019. The University of Akron, with 24,000 students, has a record of excellence in polymer science and polymer engineering dating back to 1909. Each successful candidate will be expected to develop an internationally recognized, externally funded research program and a strong commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The ideal candidate is also expected to cultivate and enhance relationships with polymer companies in Northeast Ohio. Candidate must have a Ph.D., postdoctoral experience, and a record of demonstrated scholarship. Four positions are available:

 

(1) Assistant Professor in polymer-related synthesis in the Department of Polymer Science (DPS). Job #11087.

(2) Assistant/Associate Professor in polymer characterization and spectroscopy techniques, joint between DPS and the Department of Chemistry. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate analytical chemistry. Job #11088.

(3) Assistant Professor in advanced manufacturing of polymers in the Department of Polymer Engineering (DPE). Job #11089.

(4) Assistant Professor in modeling/theory of polymers, joint between DPE and the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering. Candidates with research interests in all areas of modeling and theory of polymers and related soft matter are encouraged to apply. Job #11090.

The University of Akron is located in northeastern Ohio and is in close proximity to Cleveland (30 min.), Columbus (1.5 hours), and Pittsburgh (2 hours).
