NON-TENURE STREAM POSITION CHEMISTRY
The Chemistry Department at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown invites applications for a three-year, full-time position in Chemistry at the level of Assistant Professor or Instructor, depending on qualifications. Responsibilities:
Teaching responsibilities include Preparation for Chemistry, General Chemistry lecture and lab, laboratory courses for health professions and engineers, and upper level courses in his/her area of expertise. The successful candidate will also prepare laboratories for execution, supervise student workers and participate in the development of new laboratory experiments for the above-mentioned courses. New faculty will be expected to contribute to departmental teaching requirements and responsibilities at all levels of our programs. The ability to develop a general education course for non-science majors is desirable. Other responsibilities include maintaining currency in Chemical Education or one’s area of expertise through appropriate professional development and participate in service to the Department and the University.
Qualifications:
Masters in Chemistry or related field, Ph.D. preferred; preference will be given to those with the ability to teach a first year General-Organic-Biochemistry course; demonstrated commitment to teaching at the undergraduate level through experience; excellence in oral and written communication skills and evidence of experience teaching General Chemistry. Ability to teach General Chemistry and labs should be documented by at least one of the following: letter of reference, peer review of teaching, student evaluations or teaching awards.
