The Department of Chemistry at the University of California, Davis (UC Davis) invites applications for a
tenure-track Assistant Professor of Teaching (also termed Lecturer with Potential for Security of
Employment, LPSOE) position with a starting date of July 1, 2020. This faculty series is unique to the
University of California system. It carries full membership in the Academic Senate with comparable rights
and responsibilities as the standard professorial track, but with a greater emphasis on teaching and
educational scholarship. The primary focus of this position is teaching chemistry courses within the
undergraduate curriculum including both lectures and laboratory courses, with a preference for Organic
Chemistry series. The position is a 9-month Academic Senate appointment paid over 12 months.
 
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Education, or a closely related field (obtained by
the beginning of Fall Quarter 2020) and have demonstrated potential for a recognized program of
excellence in teaching, professional achievement, and intellectual leadership through publication, creative
accomplishments, or other professional activity. The candidate should be familiar with existing learning
assessment methodologies and pedagogies, and will be expected to have intent to pursue creative activities
in chemical education, innovative ideas for instructional initiatives, collaborate with faculty conducting
chemical education research, provide coordination for evidence-based teaching methods, and contribute to
University and public service.
