Post Doc-Materials Science at Washington State University

A postdoctoral positions in the area of single molecule chemistry / chemical physics is available in the Chemistry Department and the Materials Science and Engineering Program at Washington State University.

A Keck-Funded postdoctoral position is available for a joint research program in the laboratories of Professor KW Hipps and Professor James A. Brozik at Washington State University.  Our joint studies focus on the development of the scientific principles necessary for the creation of self-replicating molecular machines.  The position is for an experimental physical chemist with interests or expertise in, (1) Single Molecule Chemistry and Chemical Physics (fluorescence, AFM, and/or STM), (2) Self-Assembly, (3) Surface chemistry at the solution-solid interface, and/or (3) Stochastic Analysis.  Applicants must have a PhD in Chemistry, Physics, or Materials Science.  Applicants must also have strong writing and communication skills, an interest in graining experience mentoring both graduate and undergraduate students in the laboratory, and the desire to work in a collaborative environment that merges chemistry, single molecule physics, and surface science to build revolutionary materials.

Prospective candidates should send their application materials Professor K W Hipps (hipps@wsu.edu), with the subject line: “Joint Hipps/Brozik Postdoctoral Research Position.” Application materials should include a CV, the names and addresses of three professional references, and a cover letter outlining research experience and interests.  A competitive salary along with a benefits package will be offered.  The initial appointment for each position will be for 12 months.  An additional 12-month extension will be available based on performance and/or availability of funds.
