Professors Storey and Simon have an opening for a post-doctoral researcher at The University of Southern Mississippi. We are seeking a candidate who is capable of providing leadership for a large synthetic project. The position will require good communication/leadership skills and will involve coordination of the research efforts of several students. The project will involve design, synthesis, and structural characterization of new homopolymer and copolymer elastomers prepared via ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP). Proficiency in air-free techniques (e.g. advanced Schlenk techniques, glove box) and experience with catalyst design are highly desirable. A strong knowledge in polymer synthesis and characterization is also critical. The project duration is anticipated to be two years.
