Postdoctoral positions are available in the Department of Coatings and Polymeric Materials at North Dakota State University in the area of synthesis and characterization of polymer systems for coatings and composites. Duties will include the synthesis of monomers and polymers, preparation of coatings, thermosets, etc., preparation of reports and manuscripts for publication, and presentations of research at national meetings. A Ph.D. in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, Coatings and Polymeric Materials or related field with experience in organic polymer synthesis and characterization is required. Also required are effective oral and written communication skills and a track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals. Preferred qualifications include additional postdoctoral experience, experience in monomer and functional resin synthesis and characterization, thermosetting polymer preparation and evaluation, bio-based monomer and polymer synthesis, and preparation and characterization of coatings for anticorrosion and marine applications. Position will be for one year with the possibility or renewal based on performance and availability of funds.
