POSITION:                                              Assistant Professor of Molecular Virology
EFFECTIVE DATE:                                   August 20, 2018 (Fall Semester)
SALARY RANGE:                                    Commensurate with qualifications and experience
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:            Ph.D. in virology or a related life science discipline with
postdoctoral
research experience using a broad range of molecular approaches to studying viruses of eukaryotes
or prokaryotes;
A record of research productivity; demonstrated ability to seek external research funding;
Demonstrated potential for effective teaching of virology; Demonstrated commitment to working
successfully with a diverse student population
DESIRED/PREFERRED                           Minimum of two years of postdoctoral research
experience in molecular virology;
QUALIFICATIONS:                                
A record of extramural research support; Prior teaching experience at the college level;
Demonstrated potential for effective teaching of courses spanning different levels of the biology
curriculum;
Demonstrated interest in increasing the participation of underrepresented students in STEM fields.

DUTIES:                                                   Develop and teach courses in virology and
contribute to teaching cell/molecular and microbiology core courses and graduate seminars. Develop
and sustain an independent externally funded research program in molecular virology that involves
undergraduate and graduate (M.S.) students and leads to peer-reviewed publications.
Participate in service to the department, college, university, and community.
