Tenure/Tenure Track - Gettysburg College

The Department of Chemistry at Gettysburg College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level beginning August 2018. The candidate is expected to contribute to introductory-level courses as well as courses at the upper level in the candidate’s area of expertise and should develop a dynamic research program in physical chemistry, broadly defined, involving undergraduates. Responsibilities include teaching five courses per year, which could be either classroom or laboratory courses; conducting research with undergraduates on-campus; helping to maintain departmental instrumentation; and actively participating in the governance of the department and college. The successful candidate may also have opportunities to teach in the broader college curriculum through interdisciplinary courses and our First-Year Seminar program.

We seek an individual who has a genuine interest in teaching, scholarship, and advising/mentoring, within the liberal arts. Candidates must have a doctorate (or be ABD) in chemistry or a closely allied field. Postdoctoral research experience and/or college-level teaching experience are preferred.
