Visiting Assistant Professor, Washington and Jefferson College

Visiting Assistant Professor

Washington & Jefferson College (W&J) is searching for teacher-scholars who are dedicated to creating a personal, connected, and transformative learning experience for an increasingly diverse student body. We seek creative and adaptable individuals who can establish an inclusive educational environment in which everyone’s voice is heard and appreciated, and individuality is celebrated. W&J is dedicated to the values of a liberal arts education that is both liberating and practical, promotes the close interaction between faculty and students, and supports a community committed to multicultural and global understanding.

The Chemistry Department at Washington and Jefferson (W&J) College invites applicants for a 2-year full-time visiting assistant professor position starting in fall 2018. We are seeking a chemist with a PhD (or ABD) in chemistry or related field who will teach lecture and/or laboratory courses from their primary disciplinary area. In addition to teaching, the candidate will have the opportunity to involve undergraduate students in independent research.  Teaching undergraduates is the most important aspect of the position.  Our program is accredited by the American Chemical Society with eight full-time faculty and is housed in the recently constructed Swanson Science Center, which offers state-of-the-art educational and research laboratories.

To apply, send a curriculum vitae, statement of teaching philosophy, and three letters of recommendation as email attachments to hr@washjeff.edu and include Chemistry Faculty Search in the subject line of your email.  Official graduate and undergraduate transcripts may be requested during the selection process and will be required upon hire.  Any inquiries should be directed to Dr. Jennifer Bayline at jbayline@washjeff.edu

Review of applications will begin March 30th and will continue until the position is filled.
